7 Romantic Restaurants in the Margaret River Region to Visit After Your Pre-Wedding Shoot

Choosing a Restaurant After Your Pre-Wedding Shoot

Most of my South West pre-wedding shoots are planned around golden hour and sunset. Depending on the season, we may finish later in the evening, so it is worth considering three things before reserving a table:

• How far the restaurant is from your final photography location
• Whether you will want time to return to your accommodation and freshen up
• The restaurant’s final seating or kitchen closing time

If your session finishes around Sugarloaf Rock, Dunsborough will usually be the easiest option. If you are staying farther south, Margaret River town offers some excellent special-occasion dining. Couples based closer to Busselton may prefer to travel north after the shoot and keep dinner near their accommodation.

1. Yarri Restaurant + Bar

Yarri Restaurant + Bar is my top choice when you want dinner to feel like a treat without stepping into an overly formal atmosphere.

The space is small, warm and stylish, with a smart-casual feel that suits the occasion perfectly. Its modern Australian menu celebrates seasonal Western Australian produce, while the relaxed atmosphere means you can still arrive feeling like yourselves after an afternoon of exploring.

Yarri is particularly convenient when your shoot finishes around Sugarloaf Rock or the Dunsborough coastline. It is a lovely place to settle in, order something special and relive the little moments from the session while the excitement is still fresh.

2. Blue Manna Bistro

Best for: Fresh seafood and a cosy date-night atmosphere

Just nearby, Blue Manna Bistro is another cosy Dunsborough favourite. It feels a little more casual than Yarri while still being special enough for a post-shoot dinner.

Blue Manna is known for fresh Australian seafood, locally sourced produce and Asian-inspired flavours. If the two of you love oysters, sashimi, cocktails or generous seafood dishes, this is an easy choice.

The intimate setting also makes it well suited to couples who would rather share a relaxed meal than commit to a long fine-dining experience after several hours in front of the camera.

3. Lady Lola

Best for: Shared plates, cocktails and a relaxed European feel

Lady Lola is a neighbourhood European-style wine bar and bistro in central Dunsborough. It is a great middle ground when you want beautiful food and a sense of occasion, but you would still like the evening to feel easygoing.

Order a few plates to share, choose a local wine or start with a cocktail in the courtyard. The covered and heated outdoor space is especially inviting on a cooler South West evening.

This would suit couples who enjoy lingering over food, talking about the day and letting dinner become part of the experience rather than another item on the itinerary.

Fine Dining in Margaret River

Many of the region’s winery restaurants focus on long lunches. For a proper fine-dining experience after a sunset shoot, Margaret River town gives you some of the strongest evening options.

4. Miki’s Open Kitchen

Best for: A memorable Japanese-inspired dining experience

For something that feels like an experience of its own, consider Miki’s Open Kitchen.

This intimate Margaret River restaurant has an open kitchen where you can watch the team prepare Japanese-inspired dishes using South West produce. Its degustation-style dining and limited seating make it feel special, considered and perfect for celebrating your trip together.

Miki’s operates with set seating times that change seasonally. A later sitting may work well after your shoot, but allow enough time to travel from the coast and change if you would like to.

5. de’sendent

Best for: A true fine-dining celebration

If food is one of the highlights of your trip, de’sendent offers an intimate and refined dining experience in Margaret River town.

The restaurant serves a focused degustation built around seasonal produce and ingredients from local suppliers. With only a limited number of guests dining each evening, this is the option for couples who want dinner to feel like a genuine occasion.

It is more of a commitment than dropping in for a casual meal, so I would plan this carefully around your photography timeline. If your shoot ends near Dunsborough, remember to include the drive back to Margaret River before choosing your reservation time.

Relaxed Restaurants in Busselton

If you are staying in Busselton, you do not necessarily need to book another night of fine dining. Sometimes the perfect ending is simply good food, a drink and somewhere you can relax with tired feet.

6. Together & Co

Best for: Polished dining close to Busselton Jetty

Together & Co is located inside Hilton Garden Inn near the Busselton foreshore. It offers modern Australian dining in a polished setting, while still feeling relaxed enough after a long photography session.

This is an especially convenient option if you are staying at the hotel or nearby. You can return from the shoot, freshen up and enjoy dinner without adding another long drive to the evening.

7. Shelter Brewing Co

Best for: A very relaxed meal beside the Busselton foreshore

If your dream post-shoot meal involves wood-fired pizza, locally brewed beer and no pressure to dress up, Shelter Brewing Co is the easygoing choice.

It sits beside the Busselton Jetty and stays open later than many daytime venues around the region. The atmosphere is busier and more casual than the other restaurants on this list, but that may be exactly what you want after an adventurous session.

Choose Shelter when you want to finish the day near the water, share something comforting and laugh about the behind-the-scenes moments that will never make it into the final gallery.

Bonus: Meelup Farmhouse for Brunch the Next Morning

Meelup Farmhouse is absolutely worth visiting, but it is better planned for brunch or lunch rather than dinner after a sunset shoot.

Set among native bushland and open paddocks near Eagle Bay, it has a beautifully relaxed farmhouse atmosphere, a wide veranda, lawns and a collection of resident farm animals. It is the kind of place that encourages you to slow down and enjoy the morning rather than rush back onto the road.

Book it for the following day and treat it as the final chapter of your South West pre-wedding experience. Good coffee, a long brunch and no camera asking you to walk towards it again. Your feet will be grateful.
