Margaret River Pre-Wedding Hair and Makeup: My Trusted Vendor Guide
Planning how you will look and feel on camera is an important part of organising a destination pre-wedding shoot. The right hair and makeup will help you feel polished and confident while still looking like yourself.
For a Margaret River pre-wedding shoot, your styling also needs to work beyond the makeup chair. You may be walking beneath the tall trees of Boranup Forest before heading to the coast, where wind, changing light and sea air all become part of the experience.
This guide brings together my preferred Margaret River pre-wedding hair and makeup artists, other South West professionals to consider, and a few practical tips for planning your appointment. I have also included some optional florists if you would love to bring a bouquet.

Which Vendors Do You Actually Need for a Pre-Wedding Shoot?
Hair and makeup are the two services I recommend prioritising. Professional makeup is designed to last longer, photograph consistently in different light and help you feel ready before stepping in front of the camera.
A professional hairstylist is equally valuable in the South West. Your hair needs to look beautiful while still allowing you to move naturally, particularly when we reach the coastline and the breeze decides it would also like creative control.
A florist is optional. A small bouquet can bring colour, texture and a more bridal feeling to your photographs, but you do not need full wedding florals or elaborate styling for a pre-wedding session.
My Preferred Margaret River Hair and Makeup Team
Bridget from Soma Makeup Artist
Recommended for: Professional makeup for a natural, polished pre-wedding look
Soma Makeup Artist is run by Bridget, my preferred makeup artist for South West pre-wedding shoots. Based in Dunsborough, she works across Perth and the South West, making her a convenient choice for couples staying near Dunsborough, Yallingup or Sugarloaf Rock.
Bridget has more than 17 years of experience, and her work has been featured in leading Australian wedding publications, including Hello May and Together Journal. I have also worked with her regularly on previous pre-wedding shoots, so I know how beautifully her makeup translates on camera. Her style feels polished and refined while still allowing your natural features and personality to shine through.
If you are travelling from Singapore, Malaysia or interstate, contact Bridget early with your shoot date, accommodation location and required finish time. She can advise whether a studio appointment or mobile booking will work best with your plans.

Lydia Fattore Hair
Recommended for: Romantic hair styling designed for movement
Lydia Fattore Hair is my preferred hairstylist and another artist I have worked with regularly. Lydia specialises in wedding and event styling across Margaret River and the South West.
For an outdoor session, I recommend discussing a style that feels romantic but still holds its shape as you walk, turn and move between locations. Soft waves can look beautiful in photographs, while a textured updo or half-up style can offer more control on a windy day.
Bridget and Lydia are my first recommendations because I am familiar with their work and trust them to prepare couples for the way I photograph. Their availability and booking arrangements may vary, so reach out as soon as your session date is confirmed.

Other Hair and Makeup Artists to Consider
South West artists can book quickly, particularly during wedding season. If Bridget is unavailable, these are the next artists I recommend contacting.
Natasha Taylor Makeup Artistry
Recommended for: Flexible home-studio or mobile makeup appointments
Natasha Taylor Makeup Artistry is based in Dunsborough and offers both home-studio appointments and mobile makeup services throughout the South West.
Her home studio is a particularly convenient option for an individual pre-wedding booking, as some mobile services require a minimum number of people. Her location also works well for couples staying around Dunsborough, Yallingup or Sugarloaf Rock.
When enquiring, provide your photography date, accommodation location and required finish time. Natasha can then advise whether visiting her studio or arranging a mobile appointment will work best.
Mali Skye Hair and Makeup Artistry
Recommended for: Coordinating both hair and makeup through one artist
Mali Skye Hair and Makeup Artistry provides professional hair and makeup for weddings, events and editorial shoots. Booking both services through one artist can make planning easier, particularly when travelling from Singapore, Malaysia or interstate.
Confirm availability, travel costs and any minimum booking requirements before finalising your plans.
Amore Makeup by Kesta Anderson
Recommended for: Experienced mobile makeup around Dunsborough and the South West
Amore Makeup by Kesta Anderson is based in Dunsborough and offers mobile makeup services throughout the South West.
With more than 20 years of experience, Kesta creates polished makeup that can work beautifully for pre-wedding photography. Her Dunsborough location is especially convenient for couples staying around Yallingup, Dunsborough or the northern Margaret River Region.
Lumière Makeup Artistry
Recommended for: Glowing makeup with mobile service available
Lumière Makeup Artistry is run by Jade, an experienced makeup artist based in Bunbury. She offers mobile services and travels for bookings throughout the South West, making her another option for Margaret River pre-wedding sessions.
As she is travelling from Bunbury, confirm any travel charges, minimum booking requirements and how early she would need to begin your appointment.
Whichever artist you choose, explain that the booking is for an individual pre-wedding photography session rather than a full wedding party. Include your accommodation, photography location and required finish time so they can provide an accurate quote and help you plan the morning properly.
Another Hair and Makeup Option in Margaret River
If you would prefer to visit one location for both services, Margaret River Take 2 Hair Studio & Makeup Bar offers in-salon and mobile hair and makeup services in Margaret River town.
An in-salon appointment can be useful when you are staying nearby or when a mobile artist’s minimum booking does not suit a session for one person. Always confirm how long both services will take and allow enough time to return to your accommodation, get dressed and travel to the first photography location.
Should You Visit a Studio or Book a Mobile Artist?
For one person, travelling to the artist’s studio is often the simplest option. Some mobile hair and makeup artists have minimum booking requirements, call-out fees or additional travel charges, particularly when travelling between Bunbury, Dunsborough and Margaret River.
A studio appointment may give you:
- A straightforward booking for one person
- Proper lighting and a complete professional setup
- Fewer travel or mobile-service charges
- More artist options when your date is busy
A mobile appointment may be worth considering when:
- Hair and makeup are being completed together at your accommodation
- More than one person is getting ready
- You are staying close to the first photography location
- Avoiding extra driving will make the morning more relaxed
Neither choice is automatically better. The right option depends on where you are staying, where the artist is based and when the shoot begins.
If you are unfamiliar with the distances between Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River, the official Margaret River Region transport guide can help you understand the drive before booking an appointment.
If you have not chosen your accommodation yet, my guide to romantic South West accommodation for pre-wedding shoots can help you find a base that works with the locations and travel time.
Planning Your Hair and Makeup Timeline
My most popular Margaret River pre-wedding shoot itinerary begins in Boranup Forest before travelling north to Sugarloaf Rock for golden hour and sunset.
Your artist should receive the photography start time, not only the time you hope to begin getting ready. Work backwards to include:
- Hair and makeup application
- A small buffer in case the appointment runs over
- Time to get dressed and pack your touch-up items
- Travel to Boranup Forest or the first agreed location
- Parking and walking time
Ask your artists how long they require because timings can vary depending on your hair, chosen makeup look and whether the services happen together or one after the other. I can confirm the photography timeline once we know the season and locations, giving your artists a clear time when you need to be ready.
Choosing Hair and Makeup That Will Photograph Beautifully
You do not need heavy makeup simply because you are having professional photographs taken. The best approach is one that makes you feel confident in person and remains consistent throughout the session.
When sending inspiration to your artist, consider:
- A fresh, polished complexion that still resembles your everyday style
- Eye makeup with enough definition to remain visible in wider photographs
- A lip colour that can be easily touched up between locations
- Hair that suits your dress neckline and accessories
- A style that can tolerate movement and coastal wind
Bring your lipstick or a similar shade, pressed powder, tissues, a small comb and a few spare pins. Your artist can tell you which touch-up products will work best with the final look.
Your outfit also affects how your styling comes together. Read my guide to choosing a dress for your destination pre-wedding shoot before finalising the complete look.
Optional Florists for a Pre-Wedding Bouquet
A bouquet is not essential, but it can add a beautiful focal point and help connect your outfit with the colours of the landscape. For a pre-wedding shoot, a compact hand-tied bouquet is usually easier than a large bridal arrangement.
Raw Habitat
Raw Habitat is based in Margaret River and offers bouquets with delivery throughout the surrounding region. Its everyday flower ordering service may be practical when you need one arrangement rather than a complete wedding floral package.
Scentiment Flowers
Scentiment Flowers creates wedding and special-event flowers throughout the South West, including Margaret River, Dunsborough, Yallingup and Busselton. Ask whether a standalone pre-wedding bouquet is available for your date.
Wild Art Floral
Wild Art Floral is a Margaret River florist specialising in seasonal, locally inspired and environmentally conscious arrangements. Minimum order requirements may apply, so enquire early and explain that you need a bouquet for a photography session rather than a full wedding.
Choose flowers that complement your dress without overpowering it. Seasonal blooms, native textures and soft neutral arrangements all work beautifully across forest and coastal settings.

What to Include in Your Vendor Enquiry
Giving each artist complete information from the beginning makes it much easier to receive an accurate quote. Include:
- Your pre-wedding shoot date
- Where you will be staying
- The photography start time and first location
- The number of people requiring services
- Whether you prefer a studio or mobile appointment
- Your preferred hair and makeup references
- Your hair length, skin considerations or allergies
- Whether you need a trial before the shoot
For florists, include your preferred colours, dress photographs, approximate bouquet size and the time and location for collection or delivery.
Plan Your Margaret River Pre-Wedding Experience
Once your hair and makeup are organised, decide whether one or two pre-wedding outfits will work best with your locations. You can also review what to expect during a Margaret River pre-wedding shoot so your styling appointment, travel and photography timeline flow comfortably.
The right vendors should make the day feel calmer, not more complicated. Start with hair and makeup, decide whether a bouquet feels meaningful to you, and allow the photography locations to do the rest.
I help my couples plan more than where to stand for a photograph. We will consider the season, light, travel time, outfits and the practical details that allow the session to flow naturally from Boranup Forest to the coast.
